Going Home

This limited edition print is of an original
oil painting that was done in 1978.

The fox hunt is over. The late afternoon sun is going
down as the huntsman gathers his hounds. It is nearly twilight,
that time between afternoon and dusk. The colors of the scarlet
coat and gray horse and hounds seem to sharpen in the deepening
shadows. Sam can hear the sound of the hunting horn, a few short
notes followed by one prolonged note. It echoes through the forest
again and again, "We're going home, we're going home."
